I was disappointed with this fishing line. I did talk to a Seaguar representative about the results. He said Abrazx is supposed to have better abrasion resistance than Invizx, not necessarily Basix.
The good, this line is a thin and supple line.
That’s where the good ends in out testing. It tested well under its rated capacity with a max breaking strength of 13.51lbs. The Palomar knot test is worse at only 12.2lbs. It has 44% less abrasion resistance than Basix. Basix is .0012″ thicker than Abrazx.
Abrazx has the most stretch of any line we have tested to date. It stretched 110.2% at 80% of capacity. As stated above it did not make it to the 100% capacity of 15lbs.
I have purchased some 15lb Invizx that I intend to test next. I sure hope it has better abrasion resistance than Abrazx.
My thought is to test 15lb Abrazx next to 12lb Basix. I am guessing 12lb Basix will test to a max breaking strength close to 15lb Abrazx. The 12lb basix could also very well have better abrasion resistance than Abrazx. According to the Seaguar website 12lb Basix has a diameter smaller that what I measured for 15lb Abrazx.
