For a fun test, I wanted to see if Japanese fishing line, made in Japan, sold in Japan, bought from Japan, was any better than the fishing line we can buy in the USA. So I bought a few rolls to test. This is the first in a series of our Japanese fishing line tests. We are starting with Sunline Shooter Machine Gun Cast Monofilament. This line tested very well! It is very comparable to the Mason T-line for very low stretch. It tested a little lower in max strength and Palomar knot strength, but it is also significantly thinner than Mason T-Line. It is not a stiff line (the stiffness test is still under development), and I have to say. The packaging is the coolest I’ve seen yet. The label just looks cool! After doing a translation of the label, I can see it is supposed to have a plasma coating of some kind that is supposed to mimic fluorocarbon line. However, this tested better than every fluorocarbon we have tested so far, so I’m not sure I would brag about being like fluorocarbon. Good job Sunline, 5 star rating for this line.
